» Welcome to the Damage Company!
May 09, 2008 - 11:34 AM - by Taproot
Greetings and Salutations!

Damage Company is a collaboration of a bunch of gamers that decided to have a home where they can play how they want, when they want. While we do have a structured order of how we do things, we're still a community of gamers that want to enjoy the games we play.

We currently have the following games supported:
  • Battlefield 2
  • Call of Duty 4
  • Call of Duty 2
  • Day of Defeat (Source)
  • Wolfenstien: Enemy Territory
  • World of Warcraft
If you are interested in joining Damage Company in one of these games, head over to our Recruitment thread in the forums and fill out a brief application about yourself. A moderator, officer or admin will review your application and get back to you within 24 hours.

Please feel free to browse around and enjoy the site.. Don't forget to register!!
» Site seem slow?
May 16, 2008 - 2:06 PM - by Taproot
We are currently aware of the issue that the site seems to be resolving a bit slow at the moment. Our hosting company that controls damagecompany.com decided that it was a good idea to have the database server separate from the actual domain hosting server. This causes a bit of congestion with internet traffic between the web server and database server. If the issue continues longer than 3 days, we will be moving to a different server location that allows the database and web server to be located locally. Of course we will keep you updated on any developments.

edit: Site seems to be operating normally now - we will be monitoring it to continue its performance. Please inform us if you notice any issues.

To answer you question, yes, we have folks that are actively looking for such hacks, and we make detections based off of them. That encompasses a large amount of what we do. It helps to have folks such as yourself report sites like these, as every set of eyes is a big help. While we don't have any positions open for coders at this time, feel free to send in anything you may have that you think may be able to better help.

I thought I would drop you guys a line and inform you of a current hack/cheat that is able to circumvent the punkbuster counter-measures for Call of Duty 4. You can visit their site/domain (site removed for obvious reasons) and get a ‘subscription’ to their hack/cheat. Basically, they offer a VIP service to use their hack/cheat to forum members. Registration is immediate and free. The programmer (or proposed programmer) of the hack was in a COD4 server earlier today and racked up 900 kills in 20 minutes while using his hack/bot. The server is a pure server and has PB enabled. Sadly, there are no competent admins on that server to further PBs restrictions. What I’m also wondering is if the PB staff actively search the internet for available hacks and cheats for your supported games to keep Punkbuster constantly updated on those that would otherwise get around PB’s measures to kick them or otherwise ban them from the server for cheating.

While I admire what Even Balance has done for the gaming community, there is still so much more that could be done to help ensure the games integrity is upheld. If you need assistance with any coding, I’d be more than happy to offer up code that I have done in previous Quake 3, BF2 and COD2 efforts to thwart hackers – and I’m local too. Thank you for your time and consideration.
